If you want to take advantage of the 200MP primary camera of your Galaxy S23 Ultra then you must use the Camera Assistant module. This post will teach you how to get Camera Assistant in Galaxy S23/S22 Ultra in Samsung One UI 5.1 based on Android 13.
Samsung Galaxy phones provide you with many options to personalize their cameras right out of the box. A second shutter button that you can move around the screen would be ideal. But if you know where to look, Samsung offers additional camera options for people who want the most customization.
For more current Galaxy phones, Samsung has a Camera Assistant app that delves deeply into camera settings. You may choose whether the phone snaps a photo as soon as your finger touches the shutter or when you take it off, and you can turn off the automatic switching between lenses in low light.
You need to be running Samsung’s One UI 5.1 OS in order to use Camera Assistant. The following phones are compatible with the app:
- Galaxy Note 20 Ultra
- Galaxy S20 | Galaxy S20+ | Galaxy S20 Ultra
- Galaxy S21 | Galaxy S21+ | Galaxy S21 Ultra
- Galaxy S22 | Galaxy S22+ | Galaxy S22 Ultra
- Galaxy S23 | Galaxy S23+ | Galaxy S23 Ultra
- Galaxy Z Flip 3 | Galaxy Z Flip 4
- Galaxy Z Fold 2 | Galaxy Z Fold 3 | Galaxy Z Fold 4

Camera Assistant Features
Auto HDR: Turn off (it’s enabled by default) this setting to turn off Samsung’s sometimes intrusive HDR feature in high-contrast scenarios. Remember that turning it back on for specific shots requires going back to the Camera Assistant menu.
Picture softening: Choose from off (default), medium, or high.
Auto lens switching: To stop the camera from switching lenses automatically, which it will in some circumstances, turn this off (it is on by default). For instance, in dim light, it will switch to the primary camera and employ digital zoom instead of the telephoto lens.
Quick tap shutter: By default, this is off; turning it on will make the camera snap a photo as soon as your finger presses the shutter button. (By default, the capture begins as soon as your finger leaves the button.) Your final image will be made up of fewer frames, which might lower the quality of the image.
Capture speed: Here, you have additional shutter choices. You have three options rather than completely overriding the shutter’s default behavior: prioritize quality, balance speed, and quality, or favor speed.
Video recording in photo mode: If you don’t want the video to be recorded when you long-press the shutter in still-photo mode, toggle this setting off.
Timer multi-photo options: The timer option on the camera automatically takes one picture. The number of images it can take at once is up to seven, and the time between each snapshot can range from one to three seconds.
Camera timeout: Change the time after which the camera will shut off automatically if it is inactive. By default, this is set at two minutes, but you may adjust it to anywhere between one minute and ten minutes.
Dim screen while recording: The screen can automatically darken if no input is received while a video clip is being recorded in order to conserve power. By default, this is off, but you may choose up to 10 minutes.
Clean preview on HDMI displays: Turn this on (it is disabled by default) to broadcast the camera preview through HDMI on a different monitor without displaying the buttons and settings.
That’s all. This is how you can get the Camera Assistant app on your Samsung Galaxy S23/S22 Ultra.
