The smart pop-up view is a very new and useful feature that has been injected into Samsung Galaxy devices. When a Smart pop-up view is enabled on your Samsung Galaxy device, then there’s no need to open the actual app. Instead, you can view and interact with messages in a floating window that sits on top of anything else you’ve opened on the screen. So, in this guide, you will learn how to enable and disable Smart Pop-up View on Samsung Galaxy phones.
What is Smart Pop up View?
The pop-up view is a handy feature of premium Samsung Galaxy models that allows app notifications to be displayed on top of another active app, just like Facebook’s Messenger app. A user can opt to allow an icon to be displayed on the screen, so he or she can tap on it to expand a small window to see what the notification is about.
Meanwhile, you can also set the transparency, minimize, maximize, close, and reply instantly and there’s no need to open the actual app. However, This feature is only available on Samsung devices that are running Android 9 or later.
How to Enable Smart Pop-up on Samsung Galaxy
Smart Pop-up View is not enabled by default in most instances, so you will have to enable it and set it up before starting to receive pop-up notifications for your favorite apps like Messages, WhatsApp, Viber, and others.
Note: The screenshots are taken on One UI 6.0 based on Android 14 and the steps are the same for Android 13 as well.
1. Go to the Settings app.
2. Tap Notifications.
3. Scroll down and then select Advanced settings.
4. Tap Floating notifications.
5. Finally, choose the Smart pop-up view. 6. Now, when you get a message in one of the apps that you enabled for pop-ups, you will see a small icon bubble or chat head appear at the top of the screen. How to Disable Smart Pop-up View
However, if you don’t like to use Smart Pop-up anymore, or it’s bothering you when you’re watching movies or browsing or reading important data, then you may opt to disable it.
- Go to the Settings app > Notifications.
- Select Advanced settings > Floating notifications.
- Choose Off.
That’s it. These were the steps to enable and disable the smart pop-up view on Samsung Galaxy devices. Because when enabled, you can instantly reply and close the chat head without opening the actual app. It’s better to enable smart pop-ups for messaging apps like WhatsApp, Viber, Messages app, and others. Bear in mind that these pop-ups will appear on-screen each time there is a new message, so you might not want to activate apps that get lots of messages each day.

Opoos, I’m trying to disable the annoying “smart pop-up view” but just can’t find “Smart pop-up view” in “Advanced features” page, nor in “search”. I’m using S20 and Android 11. Any ideas then? Thanks in advance.
Hi dear!
Go to Settings.
Tap Notifications.
Tap Advanced Settings.
Now, tap Floating notifications and select Off.
That works, great! Lots of thanks!! 😀
You’re welcome.
I’ve turned off the floating notifications and yet when I try to swipe down on the notifications it opens a small window. Any idea how to get rid of this on s23+?
Make sure Swipe for pop-up view is turned off within: Settings > Advanced Features > Labs.
I’ve tried both this and checking labs and it’s all been disabled and i still get them even after restarting my phone. I’ve got an A52s on android 13.
