There’s no doubt that Samsung Gallery provides lots of handy features. You can resize an image, draw a shape on a photo, make a sticker, make a collage, remove an object, and many more things.

Meanwhile, One UI 3.0 represents Samsung’s goal to always offer more inventive and intuitive experiences. Unless otherwise stated, Galaxy smartphone owners will no longer receive a copy of the original photo while editing using One UI 3.0. This is a little but significant change to the way Samsung’s Gallery app handles picture editing with the recent update. Previous versions of One UI created a separate file by default, making both the original and the altered image available from the Gallery’s home screen.

One UI 3.0, on the other hand, replaces the original photo with the altered version when saved, so users no longer see two versions of the same photo in the Gallery. However, the new editing capabilities allow you to return to the original image with a few screen taps. This feature is also available on One UI 4.0 or later based on Android 12 and One UI 5.0 based on Android 13.

How to Get the Original Photo After Editing on Samsung Phone

Here’s how to revert a photo to its original:

1. Open the Samsung Gallery app.

2. Open the edited photo. Tap the edit or pencil icon at the bottom of the screen.

3. Tap the Revert button at the top right-hand corner.

5. Finally, tap Save. When you save your edited photo, it will revert to its original state.
