Step 1. Launch the Instagram app on your Android or iPhone and iPad then log-in to your account if needed.
Step 2. Tap your profile picture icon in the bottom right-hand corner of the screen then tap the menu icon (≡) on the top right-hand side.
Step 3. Tap Settings.
Step 4. Tap Privacy then tap Account Privacy.
Step 5. Tap the button so that it slides over to the color blue and you will be prompted with a notification which says Change to Private Account? Tap OK to confirm it.
Step 6. Now, your account is completely private.
You have successfully set your Instagram profile to private. There is no need to save any changes to your settings. As long as you have access to the Private Account option, only users who are currently following you, plus any new users you approve, will be able to view your Instagram content if they request to follow you.
