All the versions of Windows somehow offer a way to split applications and programs on a screen so that you can see more than one at a time. However, what you can do on your machine is dependent on the operating system and the screen resolution. You can do more with Windows 10 than with Windows XP.

Snap Assist
On Windows 10, Snap assist helps you to organize the space on your screen more effectively, improving productivity. By using the split screen feature in Windows 10, you can quickly snap windows to the sides or corners perfectly using the mouse, keyboard, and touch without the need to resize and position them manually.
The snap assist was first introduced in Windows 7, but the functionality was limited. Meanwhile, on Windows 10, you can now take full advantage of the screen, snap up to four windows, and you can decide which features to use, and you can split screens in Windows 10.
How to Enable Snap Assist on Windows 10
The first step is to make sure that Snap Assist is enabled in Windows 10. That starts with the Settings app:
1. Press the Windows button.
2. Select Settings.
3. Click on System.
4. Select Multitasking on the left-side menu.
Here you’ll see four settings associated with snapping: Arrange Windows automatically, automatically size it, show what I can snap, and simultaneously resize adjacent snapped windows.
Toggle on these settings as needed.
How to Split Screen on Windows 10 Using Snap Assist
After toggling on all the options, now you can split your screen up to 4 screens on Windows 10. If you want to use two windows screens, then open two applications and minimize both of them.
Step 1: Choose the window you want to snap to one half of the screen, then drag it to the edge.
Note: If you want to move the first window to the other side, simultaneously press the Windows button with the appropriate left or right arrow key.
Step 2. Now, after snapping the first window, the remaining windows appear reduced in the second space. To fill the second space, just click on the second window you want to view. It automatically fills the space.
Step 3. If you want to resize and adjust the screens, then hover the mouse over the virtual divider until it appears gray and the mouse cursor appears as two arrows. You can drag the divider left or right.
Snapping More Than Two Windows
If you have a large, or high-resolution display, so you can take advantage of all of that extra screen real estate by snapping more than two windows. Corner Snap, as it’s known, lets you snap into place as many as four different windows.
Step 1. Drag and drop your first window into the corner you want to snap it to. Meanwhile, press the Windows key and left or right arrow, followed by the up or down arrow.
Step 2. Again, do the same with a second window on the same side, and you will have two snapped into place. Corner Snap is then activated, and much like when snapping just one window, you’ll be given the option to fill the empty space with a third.
Step 3. To bring the fourth window into action, just drag the third window into the corner and then select another program from Snap Assist to complete your four-window setup.
