We normally use a smartwatche to have a close eye on our health from counting steps to using different kind of workouts. Do you know that you can also check your oxygen blood level? So, this guide will walk you through how to measure blood oxygen level on Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra and before models.
There are lots of health features available on a smartwatch like continuous heart rate monitoring, electrocardiogram (ECG/EKG) functionality, blood oxygen (SpO2) monitoring, activity tracking, sleep monitoring & analysis, stress management features, hydration & nutrition tracking and many more.
What is spO2?
SpO2, which stands for oxygen saturation, is a way to measure how much oxygen your blood is carrying. It’s expressed as a percentage. Here’s what you need to know:
- Healthy Range: For most healthy adults and children, SpO2 levels are typically between 95% and 100%. This means that almost all of the hemoglobin in their blood is carrying oxygen.
- Variations: However, some people with chronic lung disease or sleep apnea might have normal levels closer to 90%. So, what’s considered normal can vary.
- Red Flags: If your SpO2 reading drops below 92%, it could be a sign of poor blood saturation. This is serious and might require immediate medical attention.
- Symptoms: Low oxygen levels can cause symptoms like chest pain, shortness of breath, and an increased heart rate.
- Action: If your SpO2 level falls below 95%, don’t hesitate—call your healthcare provider.
Remember, monitoring your SpO2 is crucial, especially if you have any health conditions related to your heart or lungs. Stay informed and take care!
