How to Turn Off Voice Control on iPhone X or Later
This method works for iPhone X, XR, XS, XS Max, 11, 11 Pro, and iPhone 11 Pro Max. Instead of the Home button, the iPhone X or later voice control feature is enabled via the side button.
Step 1. Tap Settings.
Step 2. Tap Accessibility.
Step 3. On the “Accessibility” screen, scroll down to look for the “Side Button” option and tap it.
Step 4. Under Press and Hold to Speak, you have three options:
- Siri: Siri will respond when you press and hold the Home button.
- Classic Voice Control: Classic Voice Control will respond when you press and hold the Home button. This will also turn off Siri.
- Off: There will be no response when you press and hold the Home button.
Step 5. If you want to turn both Voice Control and Siri off, click “Off” and a checkmark should appear beside it.
When you later decide that either the Siri or Voice Control features would be useful to you, you can easily re-enable them by entering the same menu and clicking so that the check button appears next to the function you want to use.
How to Turn Off on iPhone 8 and EarlierĀ
This method works for iPhone 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, and others. Instead of the Side Button, the iPhone X or later voice control feature is enabled via the Home button.
Step 1. Tap Settings.

Step 3. Tap the Home button.
