Do you want to screen mirror your iPhone to your MacBook without any third-party apps. If that’s the case then macOS Sequoia has got you. Here, you’ll learn how to use iPhone mirroring on macOS 15 Sequoia.
Meanwhile, one of the unexpected highlights at Apple’s WWDC 2024 was a new feature for computers. In Sequoia, the new operating system coming this fall and now in public beta, you can mirror your phone to your Mac.
What is iPhone Mirroring?
If you use a Mac, you might want to quickly check your iPhone’s notifications, see if you missed any calls, or just see what’s happening on your phone. Maybe there’s an app on your iPhone that you wish you could use on your Mac.
With the new iPhone Mirroring feature in macOS Sequoia, you can do all of this. Here’s what it allows you to do:
- Mirror your iPhone screen wirelessly: View your iPhone’s screen on your Mac, including all apps and notifications, just like on your iPhone.
- Control your iPhone: Use your Mac’s keyboard, mouse, or trackpad to navigate and control your iPhone.
- Drag and drop files: Transfer files, photos, videos, and more between your iPhone and Mac by dragging and dropping.
- Your iPhone stays locked: Your iPhone remains locked during mirroring, keeping your data secure.
- Notifications: Your Mac will display notifications from your iPhone. Clicking on them will open them in the mirrored iPhone interface.
How to Use iPhone Mirroring on macOS 15 Sequoia?
To enable iPhone mirroring on your Mac, you need:
– An iPhone with iOS 18 Developer Beta 2 or newer.
– A Mac with macOS Sequoia Developer Beta 2 or newer.
– Either an Apple Silicon Mac or an Intel Mac with a T2 security chip.
– Both devices close to each other and on the same Wi-Fi network.
– Bluetooth enabled on both devices.
– Two-factor authentication enabled and signed in to the same Apple ID on both devices.
1. From your Mac’s Dock, open the iPhone Mirroring app.
2. Click Continue on the info screen that pops up.
3. If you have more than one iPhone, choose the one you want to use.
4. Unlock your iPhone with your passcode to connect.
5. Click Get Started.
6. Use Touch ID on your Mac to authenticate, or enter your password instead.
iPhone Mirroring Interface
Your iPhone’s entire interface appears as a separate app on your Mac, showing your wallpaper and app icons. You can open any app and use it on your Mac just like on your iPhone.
You can go to your Home Screen by clicking the bottom bar. Use the trackpad or click and drag with a mouse to switch between pages. There are menu options to go to the Home Screen and to open the app switcher, but most controls are within the iPhone Mirroring window.
iPhone Mirroring Requirements
iPhone Mirroring works with Apple silicon Macs and Intel Macs with a T2 Security Chip. To use it, you need an iPhone with iOS 18 beta 2 or later and a Mac with macOS Sequoia beta 2 or later.
Both your iPhone and Mac must be signed in with the same Apple ID and have two-factor authentication on. They also need to be close to each other with Bluetooth and Wi-Fi turned on. Your Mac can’t be using AirPlay or Sidecar at the same time.
