Do you want to use the “snore detection” feature on your Samsung Galaxy Watch? In this post, you’re going to learn how to enable snore detection on Galaxy Watch 6/7 and Galaxy Watch Ultra.
Meanwhile, the Samsung Galaxy Watch 7 and Watch Ultra come with advanced features that go beyond typical smartwatches. They also serve as helpful health and fitness companions. One standout feature in these watches is their ability to detect and record snoring.
By using the snoring detection feature on your Galaxy Watch, you can learn more about your sleep patterns and possibly uncover any underlying health concerns that might need medical attention.
Snore Detection
The Galaxy Watch 4 series introduced snore detection as a feature, and Samsung later extended it to the Tizen-powered Galaxy Watch 3 through a software update. By combining snore detection with sleep tracking and blood oxygen measurement, users can get a more accurate understanding of their sleep quality.
On the Galaxy Watch 7 and Watch Ultra, the ‘Snore detection’ feature relies on your connected phone. When the watch detects that you’re asleep, it automatically checks for snoring. For optimal detection and recording, place your phone on a stable surface near your head, such as a nightstand, with the bottom of the phone facing you.

Users can decide whether to enable Snore detection Once or keep it on Always. To use the feature, make sure the ‘Record audio‘ toggle is activated. Wear your smartwatch while sleeping and keep your phone nearby. Place the phone on a stable surface with the microphone facing you. Samsung also lets you choose when to automatically delete recorded audio (options include seven, 31, or 100 days). You can view the recorded Snore detection data in the Samsung Health app on your phone.
Furthermore, Samsung Electronics shared that the sleep apnea feature in the Samsung Health Monitor app has received De Novo authorization from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). This feature detects signs of sleep apnea using a compatible Samsung Galaxy Watch and phone. It’s the first of its kind to be authorized by the FDA, building on its previous approval by Korea’s Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MFDS) announced last October in Korea.”
