Though the Edge Sidebar feature is best for multitasking. However, if you found this annoying then you can disable it easily. In this guide, you’ll learn 3 ways to get rid of the sidebar in Microsoft Edge in Windows 10/11.
Since late last week, Microsoft Edge users may have seen a little vertical sidebar of symbols to the right of their browser. Some are truly useful, particularly a group of widgets referred to as Tools.
The ability to add sidebars is nothing new; other browsers, like Vivaldi, have made it a key component of their interface. Additionally, Edge has long provided sidebar functionality with the option to search in a sidebar rather than opening a new window or tab. But many of the new icons’ features act as a control panel for Windows many features.
Meanwhile, Microsoft Edge offers two sidebars: one that only displays on the left side and has shortcuts to Office programs, and one that only appears on the right side and features shortcuts to numerous Microsoft products, including search, tools, games, and Outlook.
These sidebars could be effective for some, but they’re not for everyone because they add extraneous distractions, take up a lot of room, and appear to be strategies for promoting more of the business’s services. You may quickly turn off these features if you use Microsoft Edge and don’t find them useful.

How to Disable Office Sidebar on Microsoft Edge
In Edge, Microsoft is introducing a sidebar for the web versions of its Office productivity suite. There is no need for the functionality on other websites because it only appears on the new tab page. It’s interesting to note that Microsoft placed a shortcut to Skype in the sidebar but not to Teams (which is present on the Windows 11 Taskbar, but you may remove the Teams chat icon).
Additionally, it is currently not able to create unique shortcuts or change the default list of websites that are permitted in the sidebar. View the complete list of Office products in the sidebar below:
- Office Home
- Word
- Excel
- PowerPoint
- Outlook
- OneDrive
- OneNote
- To Do
- Calendar
- Skype
1. Open the Microsoft Edge browser and open a new tab.
2. Click on the Settings icon next to the notifications icon and disable the Office sidebar.
