Step 1. Launch the Instagram app on your Android or iPhone and iPad then log-in to your account if needed.

Step 2. Tap your profile picture icon in the bottom right-hand corner of the screen then tap the menu icon (≡) on the top right-hand side.

Step 4. Tap Privacy then tap Account Privacy.

Step 5. Tap the button so that it slides over to the color blue and you will be prompted with a notification which says Change to Private Account? Tap OK to confirm it.

Step 6. Now, your account is completely private.

You have successfully set your Instagram profile to private. There is no need to save any changes to your settings.
