Do you want to show Islamic calendar or Hijri on your Samsung calendar app? This post will show you how to put Islamic calendar on Samsung phones.
Meanwhile, Samsung has a bunch of their very own Android apps that bring in extra goodies. Take their Samsung Calendar app, for example—it’s packed with cool stuff! You can jazz up events with emojis, toss in extra calendars, even bring back deleted events, and a lot more.
However, the default calendar on a Samsung phone is Gregorian calendar, but you can also show a secondary or alternative calendar like Korean lunar, Chinese lunar, Vietnamese lunar, Hijri and Shamsi.
The Hijri Calendar
The Hijri calendar, also known as the Muslim or Islamic calendar, operates on lunar cycles with 12 months in a year totaling 354 or 355 days. It’s vital for determining Islamic holidays like fasting and the pilgrimage season. In most countries where Islam is the main religion, they use the Gregorian calendar for everyday life, but for religious events, they follow the Hijri calendar.
This calendar starts from the Hijri era, set at the Islamic New Year in 622 CE when Muhammad and his followers moved from Mecca to Medina, marking the establishment of the first Muslim community. In the West, years in this era are often labeled AH (Anno Hegirae, meaning “in the year of the Hijrah”). In Muslim nations, it’s sometimes noted as H in its Arabic form. Years before the Hijra are referred to as BH (Before the Hijra) in English.

1. Open the Calendar app on your Samsung Galaxy phone.
2. Tap the hamburger menu and select the Settings icon.
3. On the Calendar settings page, select Alternate calendar.
4. Finally, choose Hijri.
