Enable the Screen Recording Feature on iPhone XR, X, XS, XS Max & iPhone 11 Models
Before you can record the screen on your iPhone XR, X, XS, XS Max and iPhone 11 Models, you need to enable the screen recording feature by adding it to your Control Center. By default, the Screen Recording feature isn’t added to the Control Center.
Step 1. Tap Settings.
Step 2. Tap Control Center.
Step 3. Tap Customize Controls.
Step 4. Find “Screen Recording.” If it isn’t already in the section labeled INCLUDE, tap the green plus sign. You should see it move to the “INCLUDE” section.

How to Screen Record on iPhone XR, X, XS, XS Max & iPhone 11 Models
After adding the Screen Recording option in the Control Center, now you can easily record the screen of your iPhone XR, X, XS & iPhone 11 models.
Step 1. Go to the screen where you want to start recording.
Step 2. Swipe down from the upper right corner of the screen to pull down the Control Center.
Step 3. Tap the Record button.
Step 4. After a three-second countdown, the Record button will turn red and it will record everything you do, even if you close the Control Center. You’ll know you’re still recording because the time, shown in the upper left corner, will be red.
Step 5. Open Control Center and tap Record button which is in red rounded shape or tap the red status bar at the top of your screen and tap Stop.
Once you’ve done, you’ll get a bit of notification alerting you to the screen recording being recorded successfully. The captured screen recording video would appear in the Camera Roll Photos app like any other recently recorded video, picture or screen capture, except, of course, the recording of the screen itself.
If you want to tell a story about your video, press the red record button. You’ll see options for Screen Video instead of a countdown. Tap the Microphone icon (which will change from Microphone Off to Microphone On) and then tap “Start Recording.”
iOS Screen Recording Tips
- If desired, you can allow or disable microphone recording (audio capture) to accompany the screen recording by pressing the Screen Record button while in Control Center and switching on or off that setting.
- You can stop screen recordings by tapping the red button at the top of the screen, or by going back to Control Center and tapping the stop button there too.
