The latest mobile update of Instagram includes universal QR codes that promote the sharing and viewing of individual profiles. The feature is rolling out globally to anyone with a compatible camera app on Android and iOS devices after a successful test in Japan. So, in this guide, you will learn how to share your Instagram profile using the QR code.

Meanwhile, the company, which owns Facebook, rolled out Instagram QR codes for all Android and iOS users. The feature allows you to share your profile using a QR code, and by scanning their QR code you can also follow someone.

However, the company introduced ‘Nametags‘ back in 2018 which operated in the same way as the QR code. But the key difference is that any camera app that supports QR codes can search new Instagram QR codes, unlike the Nametags, which can only be accessed from the Instagram app itself.

How to Create & Share your Profile QR Code

1. Open the Instagram app and tap on your profile picture at the bottom right-hand corner.

2. Here, select Share profile.

3. Your QR code will appear on the screen and can be shared by clicking the Share profile button above.

How to Customize your QR Code

You can also customize the page with a profile-appropriate background with emoji, gradient colors, or mini selfies. To publish your code online or distribute it via email or text, tap the sharing button in the top right corner once you’ve been satisfied. Save the picture to your phone and then connect it to printed materials such as business cards, flyers, and posters for greater scope.

Instagram helps you to customize your QR code to help make it stand out. You can choose from three options and each option has its own customizations. Tap the button at the top of the QR code to change the background type.

• Emoji
• Selfie

Color – You can add the background of your QR code with a color gradient.

Emoji – This setting fills the background of your QR code with the emoji of your choosing. You can alter the emoji by clicking on the context anywhere. This will pull up an emoji list to choose from.

Selfie – This one is truly enjoyable. You set a selfie of your face as the backdrop to your QR code, rather than emoji! Before setting this backdrop you will be prompted to take a selfie. You can tap anywhere in the background to adjust the filters on your selfie.

To change the color, simply tap the screen, not the COLOR option itself.

To add an emoji to your created Instagram QR code, simply go to the EMOJI screen and tap the screen and then select any emoji you like.

You can also add your selfie to your Instagram QR code. To do so, go to the SELFIE Page and tap the camera button at the bottom to add a selfie.

How to Scan an Instagram Profile QR Code

Luckily, majority of the today’s smartphones have a built-in QR code scanner specifically Samsung Galaxy devices. You can easily scan the Instagram QR code from another user by simply running the native camera app on your phone and pointing it to the code. You should get a popup that will tell you to tap or take you directly to your Instagram profile depending on your camera app.
