Meanwhile, the taskbar was smaller in Windows XP and Windows Vista, thus just the time was displayed by default. The date, day, and time were displayed if you set the taskbar thicker. However, the date and time are already displayed on Windows 10’s new taskbar. On the taskbar, the date is displayed in a short format, while the time is displayed in a long format. The format will vary depending on the system location and language of Windows that you use, but you may simply change it.

Step 6. Click OK.
Step 7. You are done! The taskbar now shows the day of the week.
How Does it Work?
The current date is displayed in the taskbar of Windows 10 using the short date format. You may make it reveal any more information by changing its default setting. We’ve added a new dddd part to the sample above, which stretches to the day of the week.
The main drawback is that the change will affect any apps that use the tiny date format. This is a long-standing problem in Windows, which prevents you from modifying the date format for the system tray area separately. In many desktop contexts, alternative operating systems, such as Linux, offer this. Perhaps Windows will allow us to do the same in the future.
That’s it. These were the steps to show the day of the week in the Windows 10 and Windows 11 taskbar. Meanwhile, if you want to learn how to show the day of the week via Settings or Registry editor then read this.
