Method 1. How to Uninstall Programs on a Mac using Launchpad
The easiest method to delete or uninstall programs on Mac is using the Launchpad. If you’ve deleted apps from your iPhone or iPad before, you’ll note that the Launchpad can be used to uninstall Mac apps downloaded from the App Store in a similar way.
NOTE: If an app doesn’t have a Delete button, it can’t be uninstalled in Launchpad.
Step 1. Click “Launchpad” in your Dock and find the app or program you wish to delete or uninstall.
Step 2. Click and hold your cursor on the app until an “X” appears on the corner of the icon.
Step 3. Click the app’s Delete button (the circled X next to its icon).
Step 4. When you’re done, click anywhere on the screen that doesn’t have an app icon to exit the deletion mode.
Method 2: How to Uninstall Programs on Mac using Trash
The easiest way to delete or uninstall an app from your Mac is to drag the application icon to the Trash. Note that you need to do this from the Finder Applications folder; you can’t drag the Launchpad app icon to the Trash. Keep in mind that only by dragging the program’s icon to the trash folder won’t uninstall or delete the files completely. You have deleted or uninstall the programs with its total cache or extra files. Here’s how it’s done.
Step 1. First, Quit the app or program that you want to uninstall otherwise you will see an error ” The item xxx can’t be moved to Trash because it’s open.”
Step 2. Click Finder in your dock.
Step 3. Go to the Application folder.
Step 4. Now, in the Application’s folder type the name of the program that you want to uninstall and here you will see the related files. But, these are not all the related files for the program or app you want to install. Click the + button next Save.
Step 5. After clicking the + button, select Other.
Step 6. In the Other, just type sys or system. Select System files and make sure to check the box and then click OK.
Step 7. In this step select “are included.”
Step 8. After selecting the “are included” you will see all the related files to the program that you want to uninstall. Now, simply select all the files and then drag it to the Trash Folder.
Step 9. When finished, open Trash and click “Empty” in the top right corner.
