Samsung introduced the “Protect battery” feature several years ago, but now they have a new feature called “Battery protection” in One UI 6.1 based on Android 14. So, in this guide, you’ll learn how to use battery protection feature on Samsung Galaxy S24 series.
As our smartphones continue to be with us for more extended periods, taking care of our battery’s well-being becomes a top concern for many users. Recognizing this, Samsung is introducing a thoughtful addition called “Battery Protection” in its upcoming One UI update.
Meanwhile, protect battery feature allows charging to 85% charge then it stops. However, with One UI 6.1 battery protection, you’ll 3 options like Basic protection, Adaptive protection and Maximum protection.
Here’s how they work:
Basic
When your battery is charged to 100%, charging will stop until the battery level drops to 95% and then charging will start again. This will repeat until your phone is disconnected from the charger. This provides a basic level of protection for your battery and ensures that your phone is
charged to at least 95%.
Adaptive
Charging will pause at 80% while you are sleeping and finish charging to 100% just before you wake up. This provides moderate protection for people who charge their phones overnight. Sleep time is estimated based on your phone
usage pattern.
Maximum
Your battery will completely stop charging when it reaches 80% and will not resume unless the battery level drops below 80%. This provides the most protection for your battery, but your tablet will be never be charged higher than 80%.
How to Use Battery Protection on Samsung S24 Series
So, here are the steps to enable the battery protection on One UI 6.1 based on Android 14:
1. Go to the Settings app.
2. Select Battery.
3. Now, tap on Battery protection.
4. Enable it first and then choose any option you want:

Adaptive
Maximum
Both the existing and upcoming features aim to decrease the frequency of charging cycles over time, ensuring the longevity of your phone’s battery health. In simpler terms, the more you charge and discharge your phone, the less charge its battery can hold over the long run.
That’s all. This is how you can enable and use the battery protection feature on Samsung S24 series. Excitingly, it seems that Advanced Battery Protection won’t be exclusive to the Galaxy S24 series.
