On the older Galaxy flagship smartphones, you have a camera feature called “Director’s View.” However, with One UI 6.1 on Samsung Galaxy S24 series, this feature is renamed to “Dual Rec.” So, this post will guide you on how to use front and back camera together on Samsung Galaxy S24 series.
Meanwhile, with each new batch of smartphones hitting the market, their cameras are inching closer to the capabilities of professional cinematography gear. While creating entire films with mobile devices may still seem like a fresh and exciting concept, groundbreaking features such as Director’s View and Dual Recording in the Samsung Galaxy flagship phones are making a significant impact on the possibilities for aspiring vloggers, amateur filmmakers, and digital content creators.
What is Dual Rec Mode on Galaxy Smartphones?
In the earlier Galaxy S21, there was a camera mode called Director’s View that allowed you to check the camera feed from two of the phone’s cameras. However, it had a limitation – you could only record from one of them. The new Galaxy S24 takes it up a notch by introducing a Dual Rec mode, replacing Director’s View. Now, you can choose and record from two cameras simultaneously.
Yet, the Dual Recording feature provides users with increased flexibility and room for creativity. You can now record from any two of the rear cameras, whether it’s the ultra-wide, wide, or telephoto lenses.
This Dual Recording feature is accessible across all three models of the Galaxy S24 series. Additionally, the Galaxy S24 Ultra boasts exclusive camera functionalities. These include the ability to seamlessly switch between all the cameras while recording videos at 4K 60fps, capture stunning portrait images, enhance low-light videos using the telephoto camera, and more.
How to Use Front and Back Camera Together on Samsung Galaxy S24
So, here are the steps to record with two cameras at the same time on a Galaxy smartphone:
1. Launch the Camera app.
2. Simply tap on the “More” tab located at the bottom of the Camera app. From there, choose the “Dual Rec” option.
3. Once you tap it, the recording will commence using both the front and back cameras simultaneously. You’ll witness a full-screen recording from the back camera, accompanied by a picture-in-picture (PiP) mode capturing footage from the front camera. This view is ideal for creating engaging vlogs.
4. You’ve got several choices to explore. Simply tap on the icon with four squares. A pop-up will appear, displaying a list of lenses. Feel free to pick any two lenses you want to record from. For instance, if you’re using the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra, you can decide between the front, wide, ultra-wide, and telephoto lenses.
5. Tap on the square icon located at the top right. This action will switch the layout to a split-screen view from the original picture-in-picture (PiP) setup. If you tap the same icon again, it will revert to the PiP view. It’s a simple and convenient way to select the video layout that suits your shooting preferences.
6. Occasionally, the camera feed may be in a position that doesn’t match your preference. For instance, the PiP mode might feature the back camera, while you’d rather have the front selfie camera in the foreground. To adjust this, simply tap on the rotate icon at the bottom to switch the layout and get it just the way you want it.
7. If you’d rather not have both videos recorded in the same layout and prefer to save them as separate files, just tap on the down arrow icon at the top. This way, the video will be captured using both cameras, and each recording will be saved as its own separate file.
8. To get started, simply tap on the shutter icon to begin recording with both cameras at the same time. While recording, you can choose to pause or adjust the layout as needed. When you’re ready to stop the recording, just tap on the Stop icon, which is represented by a square.
That’s all. This is how you record with two cameras simultaneously on Samsung Galaxy S24 series.
