Do you want to turn your Windows 11 computer into a mobile hotspot? We all use a wired or wireless adaptor to connect to the Internet. However, did you know that Windows 10/11 has a function called Mobile Hotspot that allows you to share your internet connection with other devices? Users may utilize Windows 11 to transform their PC into a mobile hotspot by sharing their Internet connection through Wi-Fi with other devices. So, in this post, you’ll learn how to enable the mobile hotspot in Windows 11 to turn your computer into a mobile hotspot.
Why use Mobile Hotspot
There are several reasons to enable and use the mobile hotspot features. For instance, if your computer has a wired connection, you may use the hotspot to extend that connection wirelessly to your other Wi-Fi devices. Your computer will now function as a wireless router. If you have a basic broadband router that does not transmit wirelessly, this can also be used.
Another practical application of the Mobile Hotspot function is as a range extender. You might not be able to receive your router’s wireless signals in some rooms or corners. In this case, a Windows 10 PC may be used as a range extender to boost the router’s signals and broadcast them further away.
A) Enable Mobile Hotspot in Windows 11
Since its initial release, the Settings app for Windows 10 has gone a long way. It allows you to create a mobile hotspot on your computer. Your hotspot may then connect up to 8 devices at a time.
Here are the steps to turn Windows 11 PC into a Mobile hotspot with some easy steps:
Step 1. Click the Start menu button and then select Settings.
Step 2. Select Network & internet from the left-hand side pane and then click Mobile hotspot.
Step 3. Turn on the Mobile hotspot.
B) Customize Mobile Hotspot
Step 1. Decide whether to host the hotspot using Wi-Fi or Bluetooth. You should generally choose Wi-FI unless the device you’ll be connecting does not support Wi-Fi. Click the drop-down menu next to Share over and select either Wi-Fi or Bluetooth.
Step 2. When your hotspot is turned on, you’ll see a new option called Power saving. If no devices have been connected for a length of time, Windows will automatically switch off the hotspot. This saves energy and reduces the chance of your device broadcasting an open hotspot.
Step 3. You should now take the time to customize the name and password for your hotspot. Now select Edit and enter a new Network Name and Password. Click Save to confirm the changes.
Step 4. Finally, you’ve successfully turned your PC into a mobile hotspot.
C) Connecting to the hotspot
You’ll be able to discover your Windows 11 mobile hotspot just like any other WiFi connection from your other devices. Your hotspot, for example, will display in the wireless network list on an Android phone, as seen in the picture below.
D) Disable Mobile Hotspot
To disconnect all devices, you can turn off the hotspot at any moment. You don’t need to visit the Settings program since Windows 11’s Action Centre has a Quick Action tile for turning off the function.\
- Press Windows key + A to enter Action Centre, then select the Mobile hotspot tile to turn it off.
So this was a complete guide on how to enable, customize and disable the mobile hotspot feature in Windows 11.
