As I said earlier, the device care feature is only available on Samsung smartphones running on Android Pie 9.0 and Android 10 but that doesn’t mean other Samsung phones running on Android Oreo, Nougat, Marshmallow or lower don’t have this feature. For instance, If your device is running Android Oreo 8.0 or Nougat 7.0, your optimization app will be named Device Maintenance and will work in a similar way to Device Care. While your optimization app will be Smart manager on Android Marshmallow 6.0 or before.

Step 3. Tap Optimize now. To free up some memory, this will automatically delete unwanted cache as well as close unused apps in the background.

Step 4. When optimized tap Done.

Step 5. You can also turn the Auto optimization on. Go to Device care > tap the three dots option > Advanced > enable Auto optimization.

Battery

To optimize more you can explore the battery option. In the Battery option, you will know about Battery usage, Power mode, App power management, and also charging.

1. Battery Usage

To know about battery usage go to Settings > Device care > Battery > Battery usage. 

2. Power Mode

There are four power modes available on your device. Each power mode balances the performance of your phone with the battery used, with higher performance modes using more battery than lower performance modes.

• Medium power saving
• Maximum power saving

To select your preferred power mode option go to Settings > Device care > Battery > Power mode > select your preferred power mode option.

3. Charging

Here you can enable and disable Fast charging and fast wireless charging. Go to Settings > Device care > Battery > Charging > enable or disable fast charging or fast wireless charging.

Storage

The Storage feature lets you view how much storage is being used by applications or file categories. Settings > Device care > Storage.

Memory

Using the Memory feature would let you free up some RAM on your device. You would be able to see a list of apps currently running on the device and if you tap on View more, then you would also be able to see the various system apps currently running on the device as well.

Here, you can also see the Clean now option, which will also show you the amount of RAM that can be freed by simply tapping the Clean now button.

To free up memory by stopping background apps go to Settings > Device care > Memory > tap Clean Now.

Security

The last feature is Security. It’s important to keep your device secure from any threats to your data. The Device Care App is partnered with McAfee security experts to help monitor the device for malware and suspicious behavior.

To check your device for malware go to Settings > Device care > Security > Scan phone.
