Here are some of the new features for the Messages app on iOS 16:
Mark Texts as Unread
Unsend a Text Message
Edit a Text Message
Recover Recently Deleted Text Messages
New Messages feature in iOS 16 called “Recently Deleted”
You will receive a notification the first time you delete a message or thread after updating to iOS 16 even if the new “Recently Deleted” area of the Messages app is slightly concealed.
Deleted messages are transferred to the Recently Deleted section. After 30 days, recently deleted messages will be automatically removed. The Edit menu’s Recently Deleted filter can be used to retrieve them.
Tap the “Edit” option in the top-left corner of the main Messages screen to access the new Recently Deleted area of the Messages app. The new “Show recently deleted” option that appears from there will lead you to a history of all of your deleted communications. After then, you may choose to retrieve a message thread, permanently delete it, or keep the messages there for the full 30 days.
